Out Of Area Patients

Arlington Smile Center, LLC offers unique services not commonly found in many states, attracting patients and professionals who seek Dr. Roca’s evaluation and airway treatment approach. Many of our local patients want their out-of-state family to go through treatment with us, and we are happy to make it possible because we want everyone to breathe and sleep as well as they can.

Many patients fly in from out of state or even out of the country for her airway expansion treatments or tongue-tie releases. Dr. Roca’s unique approach involves collaborating with Posture Restoration Physical Therapists to ensure your body is neutral during expansion or releases. She can help you find a PRI Physical Therapy near you to get started on this approach before flying in or driving up. If you are a prospective patient wishing to speak with Dr. Roca at our office or a dentist seeking an opinion on a case, please contact our office to schedule a telehealth appointment.

To ensure a smooth telehealth appointment, please send photos like the ones you see on this page and all completed forms at least two days before your appointment; otherwise, it may be canceled. You will need to accept our portal invitation before the telehealth appointment since the video link will be available on the portal for check-in at onpatient.com. Dr. Roca will review your check-in forms usually the day before your visit. For your consultation, please have a clear glass of water, tape, and Q-tips available. The appointment will last at least one hour. Dr. Roca will ask questions, conduct some tests, and evaluate the best treatment options for you. If you have a panorex x-ray, sleep report, radiology report, blood work, or myofunctional therapy report ahead of time, please send those through the portal. You can only send one attachment at a time through the message center on the patient portal.

Many patients want to know what out-of-state treatment looks like. It depends on the procedure. We have many happy patients who would be glad to speak to you about their out-of-state experience so that you can understand why they chose our office and how it went for them. Custom MARPE with or without Piezo is a common procedure that patients fly in for the night before the procedure and either leave the same day or the next day. Once you decide to work with Dr. Roca for a custom MARPE, you only need to fly in or drive up to have it placed and can leave the same day. Your appointment will be at most two hours long. She performs MARPE placement on Fridays, giving you the weekend to travel.

Dr. Roca is happy to work with your local out-of-state orthodontist or dentist, who can provide our office with a Google link of your 3D x-ray (CBCT) and an iTero scan of your teeth (molds). Dr. Roca will forward the links to Partners Dental Lab and meet with them on Zoom to plan your case. To plan the case with Partners over Zoom, a paid deposit is required to secure your date. The final fee will be due one week before cementation. Most of the time, your out-of-state dentist or orthodontist can remove the bands for us when it is time, so only one visit is usually necessary. However, we are happy to see you as many times as you want. Patients will be required to send weekly Sunday photos during the expansion treatment to Dr. Roca’s personal cell, ensuring you remain in contact with her.

“I am a remote patient. From other consultations, I had learned that I needed maxillary expansion. From the literature I read, I realized I was a working against some odds with MARPE alone due to my age (39m). I found Dr. Roca when searching for providing that had experience expanding older patients using MARPE with the piezo procedure. It was clear from the initial consultation that Dr. Roca is very passionate about her work and helping her patients. She is very comprehensive with her approach regarding not jus the mouth, but the body and airway as well. It has now been a few weeks since I flew in to get the MARPE placed and upper lip tie release. Dr. Roca and her assistant Yelytza were very kind and caring during the procedure, making sure I understood everything that was going on and easing my nerves. After healing, I got palatal suture split afer only 4 days of turning the appliance! I’m still early on in treatment, and i’m loking forward to the rest of the journey! Thank you, Dr. Roca, and team, for your knowledge, expterise, and responsiveness! everyone has been so kind and helpful. And thank you for being willing to see me as a remote patient!”
